Our Go ByCycle project is all about encouraging and supporting active travel within schools and the wider community either by walking, cycling, scooting and parking & striding! Our Project Workers are currently working within the Millburn, IRA, Dingwall and Fortrose clusters.
Active travel can help us to lead more active and healthy lives. It can also help us to look after our natural environment by lowering our greenhouse gas emissions.
Choosing active travel has many emotional, physical and social benefits such as giving children a sense of independence and responsibility as well as creating stronger community connections. It can also reduce fuel costs and congestion during drop off and pick up times.
We aim to work creatively and flexibly with schools and communities by first of all meeting with individuals and groups including children, parents, teachers and volunteers, and carrying out the national Hands Up Survey to find out how we can support active travel within your school.
We organise and deliver activities such as Bikeability (cycle proficiency), Essential Cycling Skills, Active Travel presentations and workshops, Dr Bike sessions and fun events such as Bike to School Week.
If you are a pupil, parent or teacher at a school within the Millburn Academy and Inverness Royal Academy clusters, and would like to get involved in Go ByCycle activities, please get in touch with Jana at email@example.com.
If you are a member of the community and would be interested in volunteering to support active travel such as delivering Bikeability, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
